His name is Marcus Tuck and he is the nephew of the local store owner, Michael Tuck in the town of Duggansville, Missouri.
He first sets eyes on Amy Malone outside the store a few weeks after he comes to work with his uncle. He is talking to Kevin and Morgan McKenna and, seeing his interest in the seventeen-year-old girl approaching them, Kevin informs Marcus that she is the McKennas' sister.
Marcus is introduced and addresses Amy as "Miss McKenna", to which she quickly tells him that her name is "Malone". It is always like that, she says and immediately rattles off a quick explanation of her adoption, so quickly that it is obvious that she has done it many times.
This is the beginning. It will be awhile before they get together. There will be a major disaster involving the town and surrounding area, a bad year for the McKennas, and an upheaval in the family before things get normal enough for Marcus to try to call on Amy.
But, they fall in love and marry at last. Marcus is one of the good guys life has to offer. He is handsome and optimistic, hard-working and fun-loving, with the bluest eyes Amy has ever seen. Gerald McKenna is satisfied to consent to their marriage and Kevin becomes one of Marcus' closest friends. Amy and Marcues really is a match made in heaven.
They settle into "the old Daniel's place", a decrepit farmhouse in the Valley. A unexpected find within the house gives them the means to fix it into a livable condition and their daughter is born in due time.
Katie is the icing on the cake to them and Marcus is immediately wrapped around her baby finger. She has his blue eyes, her mother's blonde hair and it seems that the little family is set for happily ever after.
But, of course, you readers of McKenna books know that things happen differently sometimes. And, the strange thing is that, even when happily ever after seems to be snatched away, there is often another waiting to step in and take up the task.
Marcus Tuck continues in the McKenna Chronicles in many ways. His legacy sometimes haunts, but more times blesses the Family. And those blue eyes are never forgotten.
