People have said that they like having a list of characters to sort of explain the relationships in the McKenna Family, so, while trying not to spoil any plots...here goes with the next list...
Sam Carson: The wealthy landowner across the Soque River from the McKennas. A self-made man, he is honest and shrewd, hard on his sons and spoils his daughter, Schuyler.
Schuyler Carson: The only daughter of Sam and Esther Carson, she has been badly scarred by a trauma in her childhood. Her resulting craving for attention in all the wrong ways leads her to a collision with Boone McKenna.
Cale Carson: The eldest Carson son, he is hardheaded, suspicious and the ultimate pain in the butt to Boone, who works under him.
Seth Carson: The second oldest Carson child, Seth is handsome and well-liked; more accepting of Boone. His life will impact several McKennas through the years.
Comfort and Ginny: Two of the "farm help" on the Carson estate, they are two of the few African-Americans in the community. They become the mainstay of the Big House as the years bring tragedy and hard times to the wealthy Carsons and as the McKennas' lives are intertwined with that side of the Soque.
Shiloh Keever: The daughter of an ex-military man, she catches Jordan McKenna's wandering eye in a way that no other girl has ever done. Unfortunately, Jordan's reputation has long preceded him.
The Bennettes: A family who occupies the bottom rung of Dooley society. They are hedonistic, incestuous, and primitive, living in a compound of shacks well outside of town, living on meager farming and moonshine running. They will clash over and over with the McKennas.
Eden Bennette: One of the notorious clan, she escapes her family and becomes a fixture at New House, to the detriment and ultimately, the blessing of several members.
Fletcher Campana: A young doctor who is brought into Dr. Banks' practice as partner. He is tall, handsome, brilliant and looked on as the ultimate enemy by Jerusha McKenna, who had considered the partnership hers. Her opinion will eventually change, but not without conflict.
These are some more of the major characters...and some not so major...but they all have great impact on the McKennas as the history unfolds.
Have a great weekend, everybody! Read a book!
